Brings Back Memories

Thanks for the indepth review you left me. I promised I'd stop by so I'm takin some time outta my day off work to stop by and check your stuff out and I decided to choose one of your original works, instead of the recent remixes you've released. This one stood out for me :). It reminds me of me back in high school when I used to come home after classes and sit in front of my computer, relentlessly plugging notes into the TS-404 synth for hours with FruityLoops (version 3!!!). You came up with a really nice progression and I enjoyed this one with it looping a few times on my monitors. Great job keeping my ears interested throughout the track =D. Don't be a stranger!

Very intimidating

I really think this track fits perfectly with the theme presented for the MAC 08. The first part was well thought out and really does a great job of creating that sense of fear and despair. Then we push on forward and get to bust some heads wide open towards the second half. I really enjoyed it. I wish I could write some good d&b like this. Keep it up bro.

itsameyayo responds:

Thank you, I worked hard on this. I'm glad that immediately, the feeling I was setting up for this piece of work was understood. I did all those voices myself, it was quite fun :D

-Again, thank you very much! I should go listen to something by you now!

Very well thought out

This is really great. I'm not reviewing it as a MAC entry, but as a piece of music itself. I love the transitions and the violins sound beautiful. I'm not sure if this track fits as a loop though. I'd much rather hear a true ending rather then the music cutting out all of a sudden.

mjattie responds:

hey reasoner, tx for reaction :)

Well, about the ending, I agree with you, but I tried this time to let it loop, so that maybe more people would put it in their flash submissions...

Pitch Shift?!

Dang my mind is like jello right now after listening to this. I can really appreciate you trying to keep this an "experimental-esqe" production. There wasn't a steady melody (besides the piano line that echoed throughout the piece), and it's not a track that you can hum along to. But it's not supposed to be that, and for what you've molded it to be, it really works well. The textures and ambiance are superb. Great work on stepping outside of the box and writing something that cannot be easily imitated. Now get on with my remix!!! =D

Karco responds:

Hey Reasoner. :D Actually, I wasn't necessarily going for an experimental feel, rather, I actually WAS experimenting. :P

The piano was supposed to be the melody, so of course if you remove that there isn't one.

Glad you liked it, and thanks for the review! As for your remix, I've hit a block right now, but sooner or later I'll find a way around it. It'll be done in time. ;)

Amazing

I've had it on loop in my car the entire way back from work tonight. Awesome production quality and worthy of the #1 spot for the MAC.

Thank you!

Alright so I'm not going to dive into the mixing issues because you've already covered that yourself, and Immune touched on it as well. I'm not a trance artist, and I don't really think I ever could be because of the amount of focus there has to be to take the listener on a journey without his/her ears getting tired, or bored. The best kind of trance is the one that can keep me interested, even after 7 minutes....which you did perfectly. This is the kind of music that uplifts me and encourages me to keep going..whatever that may entail. You're well aware by now that I'm all about deep harmonic content...which is why I believe this to be one of your best works. Yeah yeah...mixing this....cracking that...blah blah......that can all be fixed. But if you don't have the talent to begin with then what's the point? You've got it bro...and I'm very happy to take this journey you've created for us.

Karco responds:

"Alright so I'm not going to dive into the mixing issues..." That's fine, no need to get technical. It's good enough someone as respected as you are on the AP gives me reviews like this. XD

As for the focus thing, really all you have to do is follow the break-build-peak pattern and do your transitions in between them well, and the rest takes care of itself. ;)

Funny thing, this subgenre of Trance is called Uplifting Trance. XD

This is no doubt my best melody in my opinion as well. The mixing and VEC samples brought the song as a whole down... though the melodies save this track for me. As I can come back to it later and make an even better version of it sometime, perhaps a full-on remix, if I want to. :D

Thanks a lot for the praise and the high ratings (as apparently you voted 5? :P) Reasoner! Glad you liked it. :D

Oh yes!

I used to think trance was dead. That it had turned into a lifeless, messy, monotonous mix of uninspired beats and bubblegum synth lines. You've managed to revive my spirits with my long-lost love of t his electronic genre and make me think that there's a chance that the soul of trance can return again....one day....to mainstream music.........wait........what???....
..what just happened????.......it's not finished?.......no.....No.....NOOOOO!
!! CURSE YOU KARCO!!!!!! :P

Karco responds:

XD

Right-o, then. Time to finish this song. :D

Thanks for the review!

mannnnnnn

I gotta make a new Mp3 cd for my car and I've like downloaded pretty much all of your recent stuff. Why do you have to be so perfect at this stuff man? lol wonderful track and congrats on the Weekly Top 5

Karco responds:

Heh, this song's nowhere near perfect... my other songs, I'll let you think what you want to. :D

Thanks for the review, Reasoner, and congrats to you too for Weekly 1st! :D

Great progression

This is a really great electronica piece, and reminds me a bit of some early Vangelis and even a bit of Jan Hammer. I have one request,,there's some distortion in the background from the kick drum, and it's preventing me from enjoying this fully bro. That's the only reason I'm not giving this a perfect 10. Fix that and you've got me sold.

Zuelo responds:

Thanks alot for the really nice comment , but i canĀ“t fix the track my older PC harddisk crashed and i lost all my older Tracks . But thanks for your help/tip ^___^ you are one of my favorite artists here on Newgrounds .

Wow...

This deserves a front page spot. Very chill.....I was in a trance the entire time it was playing. I'm sucker for beat repeat effects too so anytime someone's able to incorporate that effectively, I'm hooked. Very nice work bro, I hope this gets the recognition it deserves.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks a lot man. I'm glad you really enjoy this. This was one of my pivotal songs for me as i was making music. A sort of change n sound and direction for me. Heh heh, beat repeating, glitching, love that stuff. If you want, check out "Moonlight Walking Through Misty Air" thats the other version of this. Just thought i'd give you a heads up : P (that ones more recent).

Just a simple guy. I only contribute music to newgrounds since I have no visual artistic talents whatsoever. My influences come mostly from Vangelis, George Winston, and a heavy dose of electronica and new age.
