Just a simple guy. I only contribute music to newgrounds since I have no visual artistic talents whatsoever. My influences come mostly from Vangelis, George Winston, and a heavy dose of electronica and trance.

Quest of Eve Main Theme

"Amazing"

date: August 16, 2008

I've had it on loop in my car the entire way back from work tonight. Awesome production quality and worthy of the #1 spot for the MAC.

This should win July MAC 08. You couldn't of captured the feeling of utter loss any better then right here. I don't care what other people are saying about people needing to stay away from the piano, this is THE song I would hear in my heart if I had to go through that kind of hardship. Beautiful.

"Thank you!"

Alright so I'm not going to dive into the mixing issues because you've already covered that yourself, and Immune touched on it as well. I'm not a trance artist, and I don't really think I ever could be because of the amount of focus there has to be to take the listener on a journey without his/her ears getting tired, or bored. The best kind of trance is the one that can keep me interested, even after 7 minutes....which you did perfectly. This is the kind of music that uplifts me and encourages me to keep going..whatever that may entail. You're well aware by now that I'm all about deep harmonic content...which is why I believe this to be one of your best works. Yeah yeah...mixing this....cracking that...blah blah......that can all be fixed. But if you don't have the talent to begin with then what's the point? You've got it bro...and I'm very happy to take this journey you've created for us.

Author's Response:

"Alright so I'm not going to dive into the mixing issues..." That's fine, no need to get technical. It's good enough someone as respected as you are on the AP gives me reviews like this. XD

As for the focus thing, really all you have to do is follow the break-build-peak pattern and do your transitions in between them well, and the rest takes care of itself. ;)

Funny thing, this subgenre of Trance is called Uplifting Trance. XD

This is no doubt my best melody in my opinion as well. The mixing and VEC samples brought the song as a whole down... though the melodies save this track for me. As I can come back to it later and make an even better version of it sometime, perhaps a full-on remix, if I want to. :D

Thanks a lot for the praise and the high ratings (as apparently you voted 5? :P) Reasoner! Glad you liked it. :D

Karco - Beginnings(Incomplete)

"Oh yes!"

date: August 2, 2008

I used to think trance was dead. That it had turned into a lifeless, messy, monotonous mix of uninspired beats and bubblegum synth lines. You've managed to revive my spirits with my long-lost love of t his electronic genre and make me think that there's a chance that the soul of trance can return again....one day....to mainstream music.........wait........what???....
..what just happened????.......it's not finished?.......no.....No.....NOOOOO!
!! CURSE YOU KARCO!!!!!! :P

Sweet Ride

"Great progression"

submission: Sweet Ride
date: July 14, 2008

This is a really great electronica piece, and reminds me a bit of some early Vangelis and even a bit of Jan Hammer. I have one request,,there's some distortion in the background from the kick drum, and it's preventing me from enjoying this fully bro. That's the only reason I'm not giving this a perfect 10. Fix that and you've got me sold.

Author's Response:

Sunlight Through Dusty Air

"Wow..."

date: July 14, 2008

This deserves a front page spot. Very chill.....I was in a trance the entire time it was playing. I'm sucker for beat repeat effects too so anytime someone's able to incorporate that effectively, I'm hooked. Very nice work bro, I hope this gets the recognition it deserves.

July 14, 2008

Author's Response:

Thanks a lot man. I'm glad you really enjoy this. This was one of my pivotal songs for me as i was making music. A sort of change n sound and direction for me. Heh heh, beat repeating, glitching, love that stuff. If you want, check out "Moonlight Walking Through Misty Air" thats the other version of this. Just thought i'd give you a heads up : P (that ones more recent).

Rig - Nebula (Remastered)

"Wonderful Textures"

date: July 6, 2008

Your the master of sound manipulation my friend. I love everything about it. From the delayed bells and bowed out pads in the background to the chill, drum breaks that you've perfectly balanced and made just the right amount of variation to keep my mind interested throughout the song. Not to mention the lazy bass that keeps the music flowing. Awesome bro, just awesome.

Got To Be Myself

"My God!"

submission: Got To Be Myself
date: July 1, 2008

My god this sounds incredible. And I don't mean just mixing-wise, though that part is superb. But the intricate sounds and textures in this piece are just so pleasing to the ears. It's really inspiring,,,,makes me wanna go write something if I didn't have to be at work in an hour. I know what you mean about the NS10s too,,,I don't think I've been inside any recording studio here in Nashville where the engineer didn't have a pair.

July 1, 2008

Author's Response:

The funny thing is that just you saying that shows you have much more experience with the studio scene than I - I've only been in a couple of studios before (like, 2 I think). This is a really relaxing piece...and it's the only one that I posted at slicethepie.com that hasn't gotten totally crucified! Sometimes, my judgment on what people will like can be way off - but I think here I managed to get it right. Which I guess, makes it all the more confusing - simply because I would have never ever expected "Thinking In Slow Motion" to get that popular (or have a chance at it).

-Air and Rain-

"Great melody"

submission: -Air and Rain-
date: June 30, 2008

The piano melody was great and I really started to get into it when the percussion came in. One piece of advise I could give would be that you may want to add a bit of swing effect to the piano track. At times the perfectly positioned notes sound a bit robotic, and lose some of the human touch to it.

Should you really consider this trance? You may want to put it in the ambient genre....but that's just a suggestion from me. I think it may get a better response with people who listen to that type of music more often. It's very airy and drifts you away at times.........I like :-D

July 1, 2008

Author's Response:

Yeah, I hadn't really thought about using swing, I'll definately try adding it. And you're right about the ambiance too, It'll probably get better reception there, I was just hesitant to put it in because of the trancey drum beat. But anyways, thanks a bunch for the review, it's awesome to hear that you like it :D
